General Service Staff Vacancies

GENERAL SERVICE STAFF - GENERAL INFORMATION

General Service staff (support staff) are recruited locally (i.e. must be legal residents of Austria).

UNOV occasionally requires short-term assistance (which could last from a few days to few months) including, but not limited to: security officers, secretaries, administrative assistants, information technology personnel.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Secondary school education or equivalent in vocational training;
  • Relevant work experience;
  • Working knowledge of one of the official UN working languages (English, French or Spanish) required and limited knowledge of other UN languages (Arabic, Russian, Chinese) an advantage
  • Flexibility, ability to work under pressure, clerical and typing skills, as needed for the job;
  • Software skills (e.g. MS Office, Excel, etc.) as needed for the job;
  • Ability to work productively and harmoniously with people of different national and cultural backgrounds
  • Candidates interested in Security Officer positions must have two years training and/or experience with a civilian police force, or four years in the military police or other relevant military experience, or a first level university degree with a minimum of 18 months experience in the security field.
  • Candidates are required to pass the relevant entry level tests (e.g. a typing test, a general clerical test, an accounting test, a security test, etc.). Participation in the tests is by invitation only.
