Newly arrived staff members who would require to be accredited to the United Nations Office at Vienna are advised to follow the below-mentioned steps.

Diplomatic staff members

In order to accredit a newly arrived diplomatic staff member, the mission should submit to the UNOV Protocol Office (unovprotocol@un.org) the following documents:

  • Accreditation form, signed and sealed by the permanent representative
  • Colour copy of national passport
  • Colour copy of legitimation card issued by the Federal Ministry of Europe, Integration and Foreign Affairs of Austria, clearly indicating the United Nations.

Every diplomatic staff member of Permanent Mission registered at UNOV, is entitled to one (1) additional Grounds Pass for a direct family member above the age of eighteen. Copies of the above-mentioned documents are required.

Initial access is granted to the Vienna International Centre for three years. Extensions are given for one additional year consecutively, upon submission of the required supporting documents.

Non-diplomatic staff members/ Support and technical staff without diplomatic status

In order to accredit a newly arrived non-diplomatic staff member, missions are requested to submit to the UNOV Protocol Office (unovprotocol@un.org) the following documents:

  • Accreditation form, signed and sealed by the permanent representative
  • Colour copy of national passport
  • Visa (if applicable) and recently issued Residence Registration (Meldezettel).
  • Colour copy of driver’s license (drivers only)

Initial access is granted to the Vienna International Centre for one year. Extensions are given for one year at the time upon submission of the required supporting documents.

Kindly note that support staff at the level of interns or trainees shall be accredited for a minimum of two (2) months and a maximum of six (6) months. Grounds passes for this category cannot be extended beyond the initial six months. The above-mentioned documents (same as for non-diplomatic staff members) shall be submitted to the UNOV protocol Office.
